Service & Outreach

City Mission

Are you looking for a service project that you can do from the comfort of your home? If so, consider making a meal for the homeless sheltered at the City Mission. Containers and recipes (if needed) are available in the church narthex (on the shelf next to the Lost and Found box). You prepare a meal for the size container and bring it to the church’s kitchen freezer. We will then deliver it to the City Mission. For information about the City Mission and other ways to help, visit their website.

We are currently collecting food for the Samaritan Care Center and care items for their various shelters. To see the Samaritan Care Center food pantry needs list, click here. To see the shelter needs list, click here. Donations can be placed in the appropriate bins in the church narthex.

Especially needed at this time: cereal, breakfast bars and canned fruit. Please place your donations in the containers in the church narthex.

Blessings in a Backpack

Did you know that 1 in 6 children do not get the food they need every day? Through school-organized programs, Blessings in a Backpack helps by providing food to children who do not have enough to eat over the weekend. Our Redeemer collects your donations in support of the program at Ringgold Elementary School North so that they can send home bags of 8-10 food items to supplement weekend diets for the kids. At this time, monetary donations are most needed.

Meals on Wheels of Peters Township

Meals on Wheels of Peters Township delivers meals to senior citizens in Peters, Canonsburg, Houston, Lawrence, Finleyville, and parts of Eighty Four, Bridgeville/S. Fayette, Bethel Park, and Upper St. Clair. They currently serve up to 160 clients every weekday and can easily sign you up to receive meals over the phone.

The only requirement for meal service is having trouble shopping or cooking. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. They offer hot regular or diabetic meals consisting of soup, entrée, salad, dessert, and milk for a modest cost of $25/week. If you include a light second meal with a sandwich, juice, and cookie, the cost is $30/week. They add no salt to their food and can accommodate some special needs as well. They make much of their food from scratch and strive to serve a healthy, attractive meal.

To learn more about receiving meals or volunteering, call 724-969-1000, email or visit their website!
